Foundations | Fall 2017

October 19th - October 19th, 2018

Bayou City Marriage Foundations is for newlywed couples having been married for three years or less. The goal is to provide support for marital oneness grounded in Christ by encouraging ever-increasing intimacy with Jesus and one another.

These small group gatherings of 4-6 couples are led by a mentoring couple and meet twice each month for 12-14 months using a biblically-centered marriage curriculum.

KNOWN Cypress - Spring 2017

January 1st - June 30th, 2017

Our groups are FULL! Please register to be placed on the waiting list. As soon as we have a full roster and a leader, we will begin a new group!

If you are interested in leading a Known group, please email melissa@bayoucityfellowship.org.

The second semester of Known kicks off in February, and if you’re a mother of young children, we’d love for you to join us. We meet in small groups for one playdate and one moms’ fellowship night a month to build intentional, thoughtful, encouraging friendships.

What is Known? Known is small groups of moms who spend the semester getting to know each other through one playdate and one fellowship night each month. Known is not apologizing for your imperfections but embracing Jesus’ work through them. Known is a half-eaten bag of Oreos instead of a perfect Pinterest creation. Known is come-as-you are and know it’s absolutely good enough.

Known is real moms doing real life without fear of judgement-just compassion and understanding and Jesus’ quiet, perfect grace lived out among friends and sisters- known by each other as we are known by God.

You will receive details with the dates and times after you register below.

Rooted

May 21st - August 31st, 2017

Rooted is a ministry to young adults who have graduated from high school and are leaving home for the first time to enter college, military or vocational training. Our prayer as a church for these young adults is that they be “rooted” in their identity in Christ and grow in their faith. We want to show our support by covering these young people with prayers, words of encouragement, wisdom and love. Rooted provides a way to stay connected to their original church family while learning to connect to their extended faith family in their new location. We seek to identify mentors for each young adult who can be a steady, godly influence in these pivotal years full of momentous decisions and growth. Our prayer above all is to help them navigate these transitions by staying “rooted” in Christ:

“Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.” Colossians 2:6

Epic of eden

Epic of Eden - led by Mary Leamons & Crista Merrell

June 1st - June 8th, 2017

$0

Epic of Eden: A Christian Entry into the Old Testament is a book study rooted in scripture and centered around how to approach the Bible in usable order - as a history of God's redeeming grace. We will examine how the Old Testament tells the story of redemption by organizing what we already know and what we will learn to form a better understanding of God's plan for our restoration to right relationship with Him. This study will expand our knowledge and deepen our spiritual lives.

We are able to offer limited childcare for those who need it. There will be a fee of $2 per week per child. Because Bayou City Fellowship is dedicated to keeping our childcare safe, there are strict rules about caregiver to child ratios. Because scheduling our workers is done in advance, please be prepared to provide a list of dates that you will utilize childcare and how many children will be attending. If you have any questions about childcare, please email crista@bayoucityfellowship.com.

ATTENTION: Our childcare is full. Please email crista@bayoucityfellowship.com to discuss options for attending. We do not have a cap on women who wish to attend the group, just on childcare! Thanks!

An Evening With Lisa Harper

June 16th, 2017

$10

Friday, June 16 @ 6:30-8pm - 12715 Telge Rd, Cypress, TX 77429

Rarely are the terms hilarious storyteller and theological scholar used in the same sentence, much less used to describe the same person but then again, Lisa Harper is anything but stereotypical! She’s been lauded as a gifted communicator, whose writing and speaking overflow with colorful pop culture references that connect the dots between the Bible era and modern life. Her style combines sound scriptural exposition with easy-to-relate to anecdotes and comedic wit.

Best-selling author and pastor Max Lucado calls Lisa one of the “best Bible tour guides around,” and author/actress Priscilla Evans Shirer adds, “Her God-given ability to not merely teach the Word but package it in a way that stirs the heart and calls to action is incomparable. When she speaks, ears perk up!”

Her vocational resume includes five years in full-time youth ministry, six years as the director of Focus on the Family’s national women’s ministry where she created the popular Renewing the Heart conferences attended by almost 200,000 women, followed by seven years as the women’s ministry director at a large church in Nashville. Her academic resume includes a Masters of Theological Studies with honors from Covenant Seminary in St. Louis. Now a sought-after Bible teacher and speaker, she’s been featured on numerous television and radio programs, spoken at hundreds of national and international women’s events, as well as in churches around the world. But she’s also very invested locally and has been leading a weekly neighborhood Bible study for many years and co-teaches a community study in her home church.

And if you can’t find Lisa studying, teaching or riding a 4-wheeler with her daughter, she’s probably typing on a keyboard somewhere because she’s had eleven books published including A Perfect Mess: Why You Don’t Have To Worry About Being Good Enough For God and Believing Jesus: Are You Willing To Risk Everything?. Her twelfth book, The Sacrament of Happy: What a Smiling God Brings to a Wounded World, will be released in June ’17. Additionally, she’s authored three best-selling video-based Bible study curriculums with LifeWay: Malachi: A Love That Never Lets Go, Hebrews: The Nearness of King Jesus, and Mark: The Jesus We're Aching For.

Yet when asked about her credentials, the most noticeable thing about Lisa Harper is her authenticity. During a recent interview she said, “I’m so grateful for the opportunities God’s given me but don’t forget, He often uses donkeys and rocks!” She went on to describe her greatest accomplishment to date as getting to be Missy’s mama. Because in April 2014, after a difficult two-year journey and several adoption losses, she finally got to bring her little girl home from Haiti and she’s been smiling ever since.
